Description

The Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation (OIF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals affected by osteogenesis imperfecta through research, education, awareness, and mutual support. Osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) is a genetic disorder characterized by abnormally fragile bones. Established in 1970, the foundation offers information and support to affected individuals, family members, and health professionals. It also funds and encourages research into the causes of, and treatments for, OI. In addition, the foundation provides numerous print, video, and online resources, facilitates peer contact, fosters local support groups, holds biannual conferences, engages in patient advocacy, and provides physician referrals.
