Description

The SSADH Association is a 501 (c)(3) organization that assists patients and families who are affected by succinic semialdehyde dehydrogenase deficiency (SSADH). The organizaton's ultimate goal is to help develop treatments and a cure for SSADH through research. The organization administers its own clinical research grant program, and maintains a family and physician registry. SSADH is a rare inborn error of metabolism, characterized by lack of the enzyme, SSADH. Those affected develop an accumulation of the inhibitory neurotransmitter, GABA, leading to major neurological abnormalities.
