As a nonprofit organization, NORD relies upon the generous donations of individuals to maintain its programs and services, and fulfill its mission of improving the lives of all people affected by rare diseases.

How is NORD funded?

NORD’s primary sources of funding are grants and contracts, contributions, and an annual fund-raising event. Specific sources of revenue include:

  • administrative fees and grants for patient assistance programs
  • foundation and corporate grants
  • individual and organizational membership dues
  • conferences and events
  • philanthropic contributions from individuals, organizations, and companies
